Momina Iqbal’s wedding set for June 1 amid ongoing NCCIA harassment case

BeNewz Report

LAHORE: Pakistani television actress Momina Iqbal is set to tie the knot on June 1, according to her family, as her legal team continues to pursue a high-profile harassment and threats case involving a political figure under investigation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

The confirmation was shared by her sister, lawyer and legal representative Ramsha Iqbal, who addressed the media and clarified both the personal and legal developments surrounding the actress. She confirmed that Momina Iqbal’s nikah will take place with Muhammad Hamza Habibi in an event arranged with the mutual consent of both families. She also emphasized that the groom is not a relative, dismissing earlier social media speculation.

The announcement comes at a time when the actress is facing a challenging phase in her personal life due to ongoing legal proceedings. Over the past several weeks, Momina Iqbal reportedly received threats allegedly linked to a politically influential individual. The matter escalated after she shared concerns on social media, prompting law enforcement authorities to take notice.

Following her public statement, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency initiated proceedings after receiving a formal complaint. According to Ramsha Iqbal, investigators have already summoned a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) in connection with the allegations. She stated that evidence has been submitted to the authorities and that the case is progressing through proper legal channels.

Ramsha Iqbal, who is a qualified lawyer, confirmed that she is personally representing her sister in the case. She said the family has faced significant pressure but has also received institutional support, including protective security measures. According to her, security has been provided not only to the actress but also to her in-laws due to the seriousness of the threats.

She further noted that the authorities responded promptly after the complaint was filed, and the investigation process has been moving forward with cooperation from relevant institutions. She expressed gratitude to the media for highlighting the issue, saying that public attention helped ensure swift action.

The legal representative also clarified that the family prefers not to escalate the matter unnecessarily in the media, despite the seriousness of the situation. “We have provided all evidence required. The investigation is ongoing, and we are hopeful it will reach a fair conclusion,” she stated.

Momina Iqbal, known for her roles in several popular Pakistani television dramas, has built a strong reputation in the entertainment industry for her performances in both supporting and lead roles. Over the years, she has become a recognizable face on Pakistani television, earning praise for her expressive acting and versatility.

Her upcoming marriage has drawn public attention not only due to her celebrity status but also because of the parallel legal developments surrounding her case. Industry observers note that such situations highlight the increasing intersection between social media exposure, public figures, and legal accountability mechanisms in Pakistan’s entertainment sector.

Despite the ongoing controversy, the family maintains that wedding preparations are proceeding as planned and that legal matters will continue separately through proper judicial channels. The nikah ceremony is expected to be a private family event attended by close relatives and friends.
