Momina, Saqib Chadhr appear before NCCIA in harassment case

BeNewz Report

LAHORE: Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Saqib Chadhr appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) as investigations continued into an online harassment case filed by the actress.

Speaking to the media outside the NCCIA Lahore office, the actress’s lawyer Adnan Ahsan Khan and her sister Rimsha Iqbal claimed the dispute escalated after Momina Iqbal became engaged elsewhere.

According to the lawyers, Saqib Chadhr had been in contact with the actress since 2022-23 and wanted to marry her. They alleged that the MPA had formally sent a marriage proposal to the actress, but she later discovered that he was already married and intended to make her his third wife, after which she ended the relationship.

The legal team further alleged that after Momina Iqbal’s engagement was finalized with another person, the PML-N lawmaker began harassing her. They also claimed that a “false case” had been registered against the actress’s fiancé.

The lawyers stated that Momina Iqbal’s wedding would take place on the scheduled date and that all relevant documents, chats, social media records, and other evidence had been submitted to NCCIA officials. They said the investigators had shown a positive approach and expressed hope that justice would be served.

They also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for taking notice of the matter.

Investigative sources said actress Momina Iqbal had provided digital evidence, including alleged threatening messages and online records, which are currently undergoing forensic and technical examination.

According to officials, the NCCIA is recording statements from both parties and reviewing available evidence to determine whether a formal criminal case should be registered. If allegations of online or verbal harassment are substantiated, the matter could proceed to legal prosecution.

Earlier, Momina Iqbal had accused an influential political figure through social media posts of subjecting her to prolonged cyberbullying, online harassment, mental pressure, and death threats. In her Instagram statement, she appealed to authorities for a transparent investigation and protection for her family.
