LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars held their nerve in a high-scoring contest to defeat Quetta Gladiators by 9 runs in the 30th match of the Pakistan Super League 2026 at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.
Defending a competitive total of 197/6, Lahore’s bowlers delivered under pressure to restrict Quetta to 188/7 in their 20 overs, despite a late surge that kept the المباراة alive until the final over.
Chasing 198, Quetta Gladiators started confidently but lost momentum during the middle overs due to regular wickets. A spirited late effort from Abrar Ahmed, who scored 24 off 14 balls with five boundaries, briefly revived their hopes. However, Lahore’s experienced pace duo proved decisive in the closing stages.
Haris Rauf was the standout performer with the ball, returning figures of 2 for 28 in his four overs. His precise yorkers, including a crucial dismissal of Brett Hampton in the 18th over, helped maintain pressure on Quetta’s lower order. Shaheen Shah Afridi also played a key role, claiming 1 for 35 while effectively mixing pace and variations.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars posted 197/6 after opting to bat first. Fakhar Zaman and Charith Asalanka anchored the innings with a crucial 62-run partnership, guiding the home side to a defendable total despite disciplined bowling from Quetta.
In response, Quetta remained in contention for much of the chase but struggled to build sustained partnerships. Late contributions from Abrar Ahmed and Alzarri Joseph briefly reduced the required run rate, but Lahore’s disciplined death bowling ultimately sealed the outcome.
The victory strengthens Lahore Qalandars’ position on the PSL 2026 points table, while Quetta Gladiators will aim to regroup in their remaining fixtures.
