HAMBANTOTA: Sri Lanka Women produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Pakistan Women by eight wickets in the second One-Day International at Hambantota on Saturday, successfully chasing 274 with 19 balls to spare and leveling the momentum in the series.

After being asked to bat, Pakistan Women posted a competitive 273/5 from their 50 overs. Their batters laid a solid platform with disciplined partnerships, setting Sri Lanka a challenging target on a batting-friendly surface.

In reply, Sri Lanka Women made light work of the chase, reaching 275/2 in just 46.5 overs. The hosts’ top order delivered an outstanding batting display, combining aggressive stroke play with sensible shot selection to keep the required run rate under control throughout the innings.

Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain the Sri Lankan batters, who built crucial partnerships and capitalized on loose deliveries. Despite taking two wickets, Pakistan failed to halt Sri Lanka’s momentum as the home side cruised to victory with more than three overs remaining.

The convincing win highlighted Sri Lanka Women’s batting depth and composure under pressure, while Pakistan Women will be left to reflect on missed opportunities with the ball after posting a competitive total.

The result keeps the contest alive and provides Sri Lanka with a timely confidence boost as both teams prepare for the remaining matches of the ODI series.
