ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s mobile wallet competition is intensifying as users increasingly compare transaction costs across digital platforms. A review of the latest available fee schedules shows Easypaisa holding an advantage in several everyday transactions.
The biggest difference concerns transfers to bank accounts. Easypaisa offers free inter-bank fund transfers and Raast payments without a stated monthly service-fee ceiling in the comparison provided. Users may still face applicable 1-Link processing charges.
JazzCash, meanwhile, provides free inter-bank transfers up to a cumulative Rs 25,000 each month. Transfers beyond that threshold are charged at 0.1% of the amount or Rs 200, whichever is lower.
The State Bank of Pakistan says Raast currently carries no charges for sending and receiving funds. The instant-payment system allows transfers through mobile applications, internet banking and other supported channels.
Utility bill payments also give Easypaisa an edge for customers making limited monthly payments. Easypaisa’s published schedule lists the first three utility bills as free, followed by Rs 20 charges for additional payments within the next tier.
JazzCash applies standard service charges to bill payments, including electricity, gas, water, internet and telephone bills. Its platform provides real-time confirmation after successful bill transactions.
Cash withdrawals through agents offer less distinction between the two major wallets. The comparison shows both services following the same regulated slab structure for withdrawal charges.
The fee gap also appears in CNIC-based cash collection at higher transaction values. Easypaisa charges Rs 600 for transactions between Rs 20,001 and Rs 25,000, compared with Rs 650 for JazzCash.
Wallet funding requires closer attention because different methods can carry significantly higher costs. Easypaisa charges 2% including tax when users pull funds from linked bank accounts into their wallets.
Users can often reduce costs by transferring money directly from their bank accounts. Sending funds through a bank application to a wallet’s IBAN may provide a cheaper alternative.
Despite the pricing differences, JazzCash retains a strong position among Pakistan’s freelancers. Its platform supports direct Payoneer integration, allowing eligible users to receive international freelance payments into their wallets.
JazzCash also continues expanding financial inclusion services. The company said in June 2026 that more than 250,000 women freelancers and entrepreneurs were using its platform. It aims to increase that number to 300,000 by the end of 2026.
The wider digital payments market is expanding rapidly across Pakistan. According to the State Bank’s third-quarter FY26 payment systems review, mobile banking apps and e-money wallets processed 2.89bn transactions worth Rs 41.67trn during the quarter.
The same review showed 95.8m branchless banking mobile-app users by March 2026. EMI wallet users reached 7.3m, while Raast processed 742m transactions worth Rs 23.27trn during the quarter.
These figures underline the growing importance of transaction pricing for wallet customers. Even small differences in recurring fees can become significant for frequent users.
For consumers, the choice increasingly depends on transaction patterns rather than wallet loyalty. Easypaisa may offer greater savings for frequent bank transfers and routine bill payments, while JazzCash remains useful for freelance income and specific services.
Both companies update their fee schedules periodically, making current charges important before transactions. Users should check the latest in-app fee information because applicable charges can change with regulatory and pricing updates.
As Pakistan expands its digital payments infrastructure, Easypaisa and JazzCash will likely face stronger pressure on pricing, convenience and services. Easypaisa currently holds an edge on several routine fees, but JazzCash remains competitive through specialized services and its growing digital ecosystem.
