LAHORE: A disturbing incident involving alleged violence against a minor has emerged in Lahore, sparking widespread public outrage after a video of the torture went viral on social media.
According to details, staff of the Lahore Speedo Bus Service (bus number LHR EV-008), which operates under the Punjab government’s transport department, are accused of assaulting a young girl as she attempted to board the bus. The incident reportedly occurred on April 21, 2026, near the LDA Stop on Raiwind Road Lahore, in the Chuhng Jia Bagga area.
The viral footage shows a bus staff member, identified as Sajjad, grabbing the girl, pushing her, and dragging her towards the bus door. The child can be seen resisting while bystanders and traffic are present nearby. The visuals triggered strong reactions online, with many condemning the apparent abuse and demanding strict accountability.
Following the circulation of the video, Lahore Police took immediate notice. The DIG Operations Lahore ordered the suspect’s arrest, after which Chuhng Police traced and apprehended the accused using modern technology. According to Inspector Faheem Imdad, legal proceedings against the suspect are currently underway.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority issued a strong statement, asserting that no leniency will be shown towards individuals involved in violence or harassment against women and children. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns about passenger safety, particularly for vulnerable groups such as women and children, within public transport systems. While the swift police response has been noted, calls are growing for systemic reforms to prevent such incidents in the future.
