LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has announced the schedule for the second and final Engineering College Admission Test (ECAT-2026), which will be conducted online from June 17 to June 21, 2026, for students seeking admission to engineering, computing and related undergraduate programs across Punjab.
According to an official communication issued by the Office of the Convener Admission Committee, UET Lahore, the test is being conducted under the directions of the Government of Punjab and in line with the requirements of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), which mandates an entrance test for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in both public and private engineering institutions.
The university said the upcoming examination will be the second and final ECAT for the 2026 admission cycle. Under PEC guidelines, candidates are provided multiple opportunities to take the entrance test, with the highest score being considered during the admission process. Students who appeared in ECAT-I and plan to sit for ECAT-II will have their best score counted for admissions in Fall 2026.
UET Lahore also clarified that there is no minimum passing threshold for any academic program and that the test carries no negative marking, a policy intended to provide greater flexibility and opportunity for prospective students.
The university noted that it has successfully conducted computer-based ECAT examinations over the past five years at UET Lahore and participating public-sector engineering institutions. The online testing system has become a key component of the engineering admissions process, allowing thousands of students from across the country to compete for seats in engineering and technology disciplines.
In its letter to the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), UET requested that information about ECAT-2026 be disseminated among students currently appearing in the FSc Part-II Annual Examinations 2026. The university also urged education authorities to inform eligible candidates through SMS alerts to ensure maximum awareness ahead of the registration and testing process.
The announcement comes at a crucial time as thousands of intermediate students across Pakistan complete their board examinations and begin preparing for university admissions. Engineering remains one of the most competitive academic fields in the country, with institutions such as UET Lahore, UET Taxila and other public-sector engineering universities relying heavily on ECAT scores for merit determination.
Admissions experts say the second ECAT provides an important opportunity for students seeking to improve their earlier scores before the commencement of the Fall 2026 admissions cycle. The university has advised applicants to obtain updated information through its official admission and ECAT portals.
With the final ECAT-2026 now scheduled for June 17-21, aspiring engineers will have one last chance to strengthen their admission prospects before merit lists are prepared later this year.
