LAHORE: Captains of the franchises participating in Pakistan Super League season 11 said they are determined to play competitive cricket and lift the trophy, expressing confidence that the new edition of the league will maintain its high standards. Speaking at a joint press conference in Lahore, team captains said preparations were satisfactory and the tournament would once again provide quality entertainment to fans.

Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said his team was fully prepared for PSL 11 and ready to face tough competition. He said the first ten years of the Pakistan Super League had been successful and the league would continue to grow stronger in the future. Afridi added that PSL played a key role in the revival of international cricket in Pakistan and provided young players with opportunities to showcase their talent at a high level.

Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam said teams were focused on playing good cricket but admitted players would miss the presence of fans in large numbers. He said the players would try their best to produce exciting matches so that viewers watching on television could enjoy the tournament. Babar said PSL had always served as a major platform for emerging cricketers and many players had reached the national team through strong performances in the league.

Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan said the Pakistan Super League had grown stronger every year and expressed confidence that it would become even more successful in the future. He said the continuity of the tournament had helped strengthen Pakistan’s cricket structure and allowed local players to compete alongside international stars, which improved overall standards.

The Pakistan Super League was launched by the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2016 to promote franchise-based T20 cricket and bring international players back to Pakistan. The first few editions were held in the United Arab Emirates due to security concerns, but all matches have been staged in Pakistan in recent years after the situation improved, marking a major milestone for the board.

According to PCB data, the league has become one of the most watched T20 competitions in the region, with growing broadcast revenues and sponsorship deals contributing significantly to Pakistan cricket’s finances. Performances in the PSL are also considered important for national team selection, as selectors closely monitor emerging players during the tournament.

Cricket analysts say PSL 11 comes at a time when Pakistan is rebuilding combinations in white-ball formats, making the league important for identifying new talent. Board officials believe the successful staging of the tournament will not only promote cricket but also support the sports economy through tourism, broadcasting, and commercial activity.

Team captains said fans can expect thrilling contests in PSL 11 as every franchise is aiming to win the title, adding that the Pakistan Super League will continue to remain the country’s premier T20 competition in the coming years.
