BeNewz Report

SYLHET: Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 75 kept Pakistan alive against Bangladesh after the visitors reached 316-7 at stumps on day four of the second Test in Sylhet on Tuesday, still needing 121 runs for victory.

Pakistan resumed their difficult chase of 437 runs and ended the day under pressure despite Rizwan’s resistance. Sajid Khan remained unbeaten on eight after surviving a late Bangladesh attack led by left-arm spinner Taijul Islam.

Bangladesh earlier posted 278 in the first innings before adding 390 in the second to set Pakistan a daunting fourth-innings target. Pakistan were bowled out for 232 in their first innings but recovered strongly in the chase through Rizwan’s composed innings.

Rizwan struck eight boundaries in his 134-ball knock and rotated the strike carefully as wickets fell around him. Pakistan scored at 3.67 runs per over and added 41 runs in the final 10 overs despite losing two wickets late in the day.

Taijul Islam remained Bangladesh’s biggest threat with figures of 4-113 from 31 overs. The experienced spinner dismissed key Pakistan batters and maintained pressure with tight bowling throughout the innings. Fast bowler Nahid Rana supported him with 2-58 in 14 overs.

Rizwan continued his strong Test form, taking his career tally to 2,561 runs in 43 matches at an average above 40. Sajid Khan, mainly known for his bowling, faced nine deliveries confidently during a tense final session.

Bangladesh now need three wickets on the final day to seal a series-defining victory, while Pakistan require 121 more runs with Rizwan holding the key to the chase in Sylhet.
