LAHORE: The education boards in Punjab have issued the detailed date sheet for the Intermediate Annual Examinations 2026, confirming that second-year exams will commence on May 20 while first-year examinations will begin on June 15.

According to the official schedule released by the boards, students of both first-year and second-year classes will appear in examinations for various science, arts, commerce, and applied sciences subjects in phases over the coming months. The announcement has provided clarity to thousands of students preparing for higher secondary examinations across the country.

The boards stated that the first papers for both classes will include subjects such as Psychology, Home Economics, and Applied Sciences. Students from pre-medical, pre-engineering, commerce, humanities, and computer science groups will follow separate subject-wise schedules throughout the examination period.

As per the released timetable, the final paper for Intermediate Part-II students will be Pakistan Studies, scheduled for June 12. Meanwhile, Intermediate Part-I students will conclude their written examinations with the Computer Science paper on July 8.

Education authorities also confirmed that the Eidul Azha holidays have been incorporated into the examination calendar. No exams will be conducted from May 26 to May 31 due to Eid holidays. Officials said the break was included to facilitate students, teachers, and examination staff during the religious festival.

Board officials noted that written examinations will be followed by practical exams beginning on July 10. The practical examination phase is expected to continue until August 18, covering science laboratory subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science.

The release of the date sheet comes at a crucial time for students, many of whom have been awaiting confirmation of the examination schedule to finalize their preparations. Educational institutions have already accelerated revision sessions and model paper activities following the announcement.

According to education experts, Intermediate examinations play a significant role in determining admissions to universities and professional institutions across Pakistan. Thousands of students compete annually for placements in medical colleges, engineering universities, business schools, and other higher education programs based on Intermediate results.

In recent years, examination boards have also increased focus on transparency, punctuality, and strict monitoring during exams to prevent cheating and ensure fair assessment. Several boards have introduced digital attendance systems, surveillance measures, and tighter invigilation protocols to improve examination standards.

Board authorities advised students to carefully review the date sheet and ensure they appear at examination centres according to the specified dates and timings. Students have also been directed to carry their roll number slips and all required documents to avoid inconvenience on exam days.

Officials further warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against candidates violating examination rules, including the use of unfair means or possession of prohibited electronic devices inside examination halls.

Education departments across the country are expected to coordinate with local administrations to ensure smooth conduct of exams, particularly during the summer season when temperatures rise sharply in several regions.

Parents and teachers have welcomed the timely release of the schedule, saying it allows students to better organize their study plans ahead of the annual examinations.
