ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is expected to experience mainly hot and dry weather across most parts of the country on Tuesday, with isolated rain and thunderstorms forecast in northern and central regions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The weather outlook indicates that plains and southern areas will remain under intense heat, while scattered rain-wind and thunderstorm activity is likely in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, south and east Punjab, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Meteorologists say these localized weather systems may bring temporary relief but are unlikely to significantly alter the prevailing heatwave conditions.

The forecast comes as Pakistan continues to face rising temperatures ahead of the peak summer season. According to officials, current weather patterns are consistent with seasonal trends, although an increase in intensity, particularly in Sindh and Southern Punjab.

Data from the past 24 hours shows that weather remained predominantly hot and dry in most plain areas. However, light rainfall was recorded in Mohenjo Daro, where 1 millimetre of rain was measured. Experts note that such isolated rainfall events are typical during transitional weather phases but do little to offset broader dry weather.

Temperatures have surged significantly in different parts of Sindh. The highest maximum temperatures recorded on Monday were 47°C in Shaheed Benazirabad and Sakrand, followed by 46°C in Dadu and Mithi. These readings highlight the intenstiy of the ongoing heat spell, particularly in interior Sindh, which is often among the hottest regions in the country.

Meteorologists warn that prolonged exposure to such high temperatures can pose serious health risks, including heat exhaustion and heatstroke. The citizenz are advised to remain insides to avoid the affects of extreme weather ouside.

Weather experts also point out that while northern areas oftenly help to give some relief، they may be accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms, which can disrupt travel and outdoor activities. Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious, particularly during sudden weather changes.

Pakistan has witnessed increasingly extreme weather patterns in recent years, which climate experts link to global climate change. Rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, and extended heatwaves have become more frequent, impacting agriculture, water resources, and public health.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has urged the public to stay updated through official forecasts as conditions may change rapidly. Authorities are also monitoring the situation closely, especially in high-risk areas where temperature increased extremely high.

As the country moves deeper into the pre-monsoon period, experts expect a gradual increase in both temperature intensity and sporadic weather activity in northern regions. However, widespread relief from the heatwave is not anticipated in the short term.

With temperatures already approaching extreme levels, officials emphasize the importance of preparedness and public awareness to minimize the impact of the ongoing heat spell across Pakistan.
