LAHORE: Multan Sultans secured a clinical six-wicket win over Quetta Gladiators in the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League held in Lahore on Sunday. The Sultans reached 167 for four in 17.3 overs, chasing a target of 167 with notable ease and maintaining their strong early-season form.

Quetta Gladiators posted 166 for seven in their allotted 20 overs after being asked to set a target. Their innings showed flashes of acceleration but lacked sustained momentum in the middle overs, which limited their total on what appeared to be a competitive batting surface. Despite a steady start, the Gladiators lost wickets at regular intervals, preventing them from building a match-defining partnership.

In response, Multan Sultans approached the chase with composure and tactical clarity. Their top order laid a solid foundation, rotating strike effectively and punishing loose deliveries. The required run rate remained under control throughout the innings, reflecting disciplined batting against a varied Quetta bowling attack.

The turning point came during the middle phase of the chase, when Multan’s batters accelerated without taking undue risks. This shift placed Quetta under pressure, as their bowlers struggled to contain boundaries and force breakthroughs. With wickets in hand, the Sultans capitalized in the closing overs, sealing the match with 15 balls to spare.

This result reinforces Multan Sultans’ position near the top of the table, continuing a trend of consistent performances in recent PSL seasons. The franchise has been one of the most dominant sides since 2021, reaching multiple finals and maintaining a high win percentage, according to PSL records.

Quetta Gladiators, former champions of the 2019 edition, will need to reassess their bowling strategies and middle-order stability. The team has experienced fluctuating performances in recent seasons, struggling to replicate its earlier success despite a mix of experienced and emerging players.

The Pakistan Super League, now in its 2026 edition, continues to serve as a key platform for domestic and international talent. According to Pakistan Cricket Board data, the league has significantly contributed to the development of local players and increased Pakistan’s visibility in global T20 cricket markets.

With this victory, Multan Sultans gain crucial points that strengthen their playoff prospects, while Quetta Gladiators face mounting pressure to recover momentum in upcoming fixtures. The Pakistan Super League remains highly competitive this season, with teams closely contesting for top positions as the tournament progresses.
