ISLAMABAD: A major security lapse was reported at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) in the early hours of January 3, 2026, when a young man was apprehended after unlawfully entering a high-security residential area of the campus, officials confirmed.
According to the First Information Report (FIR No. 4/26) registered at the Secretariat Police Station, the incident occurred around 2:45 am when the suspect allegedly scaled the boundary wall of Girls’ Hostel No. 5 to gain illegal access.
The accused was identified as Faizan Satti, son of Raja Khalid Mehmood, a resident of Tulli Sattiyaan, Kotli Sattiyaan. University security officials stated that the intruder was spotted by on-duty female security staff and guards as he attempted to move further inside the hostel premises.
Upon being challenged, the suspect tried to escape but was chased and overpowered by the university’s security team. He was detained on the spot and later handed over to the police before any untoward incident could occur.
The complaint was lodged by Ansar Mehmood, Security Officer at Quaid-i-Azam University, who stated that the suspect violated the sanctity of the “chadar aur chardiwari” of a government educational institution by entering the girls’ hostel through illegal means.

Police have registered a case under Section 452 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint. The FIR was registered by Sub-Inspector Zafar Ali, with the formal entry recorded at around midnight the same day.
University authorities have called for strict legal action, stressing that the safety of students—particularly female residents—remains a top priority. The case has been forwarded to the relevant investigation wing for further inquiry into the suspect’s motives.
The incident has once again raised concerns over campus security at QAU, which spans a vast area near the Margalla Hills. Despite the challenges posed by the open terrain, officials noted that the timely response by security staff prevented a potentially serious situation.
The accused remains in police custody as investigations continue.
