Pakistan begin cautious chase against S Africa

BeNewz Report

The first One-Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and South Africa is underway at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, as part of South Africa’s 2025 tour of Pakistan. Batting first, South Africa set a target of 264 runs for Pakistan after scoring 263 in their allotted 50 overs.

In reply, Pakistan made 34 runs without losing any wicket in 7 overs at the time of the latest update. The hosts now need 230 runs off 43 overs to win the match.

Earlier, South Africa’s middle order contributed crucial runs to help the visitors post a competitive total, while Pakistan’s bowlers — including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan — bowled well in the middle overs to restrict them from reaching a bigger score.

Pakistan’s batting lineup, featuring Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Mohammad Rizwan, is expected to play a decisive role in the chase. The series holds significant importance for both teams as part of their preparations for the 2027 ICC World Cup.

This is the opening match of the three-match ODI series, with the second ODI scheduled for November 6 in Lahore and the final encounter set for November 8 in Karachi. Fans across the country are following the contest with great excitement.
