ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday announced a cut in petroleum product prices for the next fortnight, lowering petrol and high-speed diesel rates by Rs 5 per litre each.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced to Rs 409.78 per litre following the latest revision.
The government also reduced the price of high-speed diesel by Rs5 per litre. The new diesel price has been fixed at Rs 409.58 per litre.
The notification stated that the revised prices would come into effect after 12am tonight. The adjustment was made in line with fluctuations in global crude oil prices and changes in import costs.

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are reviewed every two weeks based on recommendations by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and trends in the international energy market. Recent volatility in global oil prices has led to frequent adjustments in domestic fuel rates.
Analysts said the reduction in petrol and diesel prices could provide limited relief to transporters and consumers by easing transportation and logistics costs. However, the broader impact on inflation will depend on future global oil trends and domestic economic conditions.
