Cambridge AS Level math paper leaked again

BeNewz Report

KARACHI: Another Cambridge International Education AS Level Mathematics paper was allegedly leaked before the examination, raising fresh concerns among students and parents over the security of the exam system.

Several students claimed that the AS Level Mathematics paper carrying code 9709/5 was circulating on social media before the scheduled examination on Monday. According to students, the paper was supposed to begin at 2pm, but the solved questions had already been shared online hours earlier.

Students said they were shocked to find that the same questions appearing on social media were included in the actual examination paper.

Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) Executive Director Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah confirmed that reports regarding the possible leak of the second mathematics paper had been received. He said the IBCC was in contact with Cambridge authorities and waiting for the organisation’s official response.

Dr Mallah described the repeated paper leak incidents as unfortunate and said Cambridge had so far failed to fully prevent such breaches despite growing concerns from students and educational institutions.

Earlier, Cambridge had already confirmed the leak of AS Level Mathematics paper 9709/12, which was conducted on April 29, 2026, in Administrative Zones 3 and 4. According to Cambridge, the paper had been distributed without authorization before the examination.

Following an internal investigation, Cambridge concluded that the integrity of the paper had been compromised to such an extent that it could not be used for final grading purposes.

The examination body announced that the affected paper would no longer count towards students’ final results and a replacement examination would instead be conducted on June 9, 2026, as part of the June examination series.

However, Dr Mallah later clarified that only Cambridge authorities could officially confirm whether the latest paper had actually been leaked or not. He said the IBCC was continuously coordinating with Cambridge regarding the matter.

The repeated incidents have triggered criticism from students, parents, and education experts, who are demanding transparent investigations and stronger safeguards to protect the credibility of the examination system.
