ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s southern districts recorded the highest temperature of 47°C, with Sakrand, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Dadu emerging as the hottest areas, as intense heatwave conditions continued across much of the country.

According to the latest weather outlook, most regions are expected to experience hot and dry conditions, while southern parts will remain extremely hot over the coming days. Meteorological officials said temperatures in cities such as Padidan and Hyderabad also remained elevated at 46°C, reflecting sustained heat stress in Sindh.

Despite the prevailing heat, partly cloudy conditions are likely to develop in northern areas, with chances of rain-windstorms and thunderstorms at isolated locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and the Potohar region during afternoon hours.

Forecasters added that northeastern Punjab may also receive rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms later at night, potentially bringing temporary relief from the heat. Similar weather patterns are expected to persist into Sunday, with isolated thunderstorms forecast in upper regions and northeastern Punjab, while hailstorms may occur in parts of Kashmir and the Potohar region.

Over the past 24 hours, most parts of the country remained hot and dry, particularly in southern districts where temperatures stayed significantly above normal. However, isolated rain-wind thunderstorms were recorded in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Punjab, with light rainfall reported in Hunza (3mm), Mianwali (2mm), and Joharabad (1mm).

The ongoing weather pattern highlights a continued contrast between extreme heat in southern Pakistan and sporadic storm activity in northern and upper regions, as seasonal transitions begin to influence atmospheric conditions.
