ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is likely to witness mainly hot and dry weather on Monday, with southern regions facing extreme heat as temperatures reached as high as 46°C, according to the latest forecast.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department said most parts of the country will remain under hot and dry conditions, while southern districts will experience very hot weather. However, partly cloudy skies with rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected at isolated locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, northeastern and eastern Punjab, and the Potohar region.
The Met Office also warned that hailstorms may occur at isolated places in Kashmir, Potohar, and northeastern Punjab during the forecast period, particularly during evening and night hours.
Over the past 24 hours, weather conditions remained largely hot and dry across most regions, with southern districts experiencing intense heat. However, rain and thunderstorms were reported at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Rainfall data showed Kohat received the highest precipitation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 24 mm, followed by Dir Lower with 10 mm and Cherat with 7 mm. Peshawar Airport recorded 6 mm, while several other علاقوں including Saidu Sharif, Malam Jabba, and Kalam received light showers.
In Punjab, significant rainfall was recorded in Lahore, where Tajpura received 14 mm, while Mughalpura and Upper Mall recorded 10 mm each. Islamabad’s Zero Point recorded 10 mm rainfall, while Golra received 8 mm. Rain was also reported in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, and other surrounding areas.
In Kashmir, Kotli and Rawalakot recorded rainfall, while light showers were reported in Gilgit-Baltistan areas including Bunji, Astore, and Gupis.
The highest temperatures recorded on Sunday were 46°C in Jacobabad and Shaheed Benazirabad, while Lasbela, Turbat, Dadu, Paddidan, Mohenjo-daro, and Hyderabad recorded temperatures of 45°C.
Weather experts have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours, stay hydrated, and take precautionary measures against possible dust storms and hailstorms as the heatwave persists across the country.
