LAHORE: Multan Sultans defeated Rawalpindiz by seven wickets in the 14th match of Pakistan Super League season 11, securing their fourth consecutive victory in the tournament.

Playing in Lahore, Rawalpindis posted 182 for eight in their 20 overs, but Multan Sultans chased down the target comfortably in the 17th over with only three wickets lost. The result keeps Multan at the top of the points table with eight points, while Rawalpindis suffered their fourth straight defeat in their debut season.

Sam Billings led the Rawalpindis batting effort with 56 runs, while Kamran Ghulam added 35 and Dion Forrester contributed 24. Despite a solid total, the side failed to build momentum in the latter stages of the innings.

Multan’s bowling attack was led by Faisal Akram, who claimed four wickets, restricting the opposition from pushing beyond a competitive total. Arafat Minhas supported well with two wickets.

In response, Multan Sultans got off to a strong start through opener Sahibzada Farhan, who scored 68 off 38 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes. His aggressive approach set the tone for the chase.

He was well supported by Josh Philippe, who struck 56 from 30 deliveries, including six fours and three sixes. Their partnership effectively took the game away from Rawalpindis during the middle overs.

Captain Shan Masood scored a steady 27, while Ashton Turner remained unbeaten on 26 to guide the team home with ease.

The Pakistan Super League, launched in 2016 by the Pakistan Cricket Board, has grown into one of the leading T20 leagues globally, attracting top international talent while strengthening the domestic cricket structure. According to PCB data, the league has significantly contributed to the development of young players and the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.

Recent PSL seasons have seen rising scoring trends, with totals above 180 becoming increasingly common due to flatter pitches and aggressive T20 strategies. Analysts note that power-hitting and depth in batting line-ups have reshaped match dynamics across franchises.

The Lahore leg of PSL 11 has now concluded, with the tournament set to move to Karachi from April 8 for the next phase. Matches are being broadcast live on Geo Super and streamed on the digital platform Myco.

With strong form and consistent performances, Multan Sultans remain firm contenders for the PSL 11 title as the tournament progresses into its next stage.
