ISLAMABAD: The Sri Lankan cricket team, led by captain Charith Asalanka, arrived in Islamabad on Friday to play a three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan. The series will be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 11 to 15.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), all security and logistical arrangements have been finalized following the team’s arrival. The visitors will begin their training sessions after a short rest. The first ODI is scheduled for November 11, the second for November 13, and the final match will take place on November 15.

The Pakistan squad has also been training intensively in Rawalpindi ahead of the series. Captain Shaheen Afridi has reportedly urged his players to take full advantage of home conditions. Pakistan’s recent performance in limited-overs cricket has been strong, and the coaching staff aims to maintain that momentum.

Following the ODI series, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe will compete in a T20 Triangular Series. The tournament will run from November 17 to 29 across Rawalpindi and Lahore. According to the PCB, the tri-series will serve as an important preparation phase for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup.

All matches will be played under floodlights, and ticket sales—both online and offline—are already underway. Security agencies have completed extensive arrangements around the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to ensure a safe and smooth event.

Speaking to reporters upon arrival, Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka expressed enthusiasm about playing in Pakistan. He said his team was eager to put up a strong fight and provide opportunities for younger players.

A PCB spokesperson said that special facilities will be provided for fans, including family enclosures, fan zones, and on-ground entertainment activities to enhance the match-day experience.

The series is being viewed as another significant step toward strengthening international cricket in Pakistan. PCB officials believe that successful hosting of the ODI and T20 series will not only deepen cricketing ties among the participating nations but also reinforce Pakistan’s reputation as a safe and vibrant venue for global cricket.
