The first match of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and South Africa will be played today at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, starting at 3 p.m. The fixture marks the opening game of South Africa’s tour of Pakistan 2025, which cricket fans across the country have been eagerly anticipating.
Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead the Pakistan side, while South Africa is expected to field a strong batting lineup. Both teams view the series as a key opportunity to prepare for the 2027 ICC World Cup, as selectors and management aim to fine-tune their squads. The Faisalabad pitch is traditionally known for supporting batsmen, though spinners are likely to find some assistance in the second innings.
Pakistan enter the series with confidence following an impressive performance in the recent T20 series, and team management has indicated that several young players will be given a chance to prove themselves as part of the side’s long-term strategy for major tournaments.
Strict security arrangements have been put in place for the match, with large crowds expected to fill the stands. The second ODI is scheduled for November 6, while the third and final match will be played on November 8. Cricket analysts believe the Pakistan–South Africa series represents an important step in strengthening Pakistan’s international cricket calendar and testing its emerging talent ahead of global competitions.
