Pakistan posted 269 runs in 50 overs against South Africa in the second One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series, setting the visitors a target of 270 runs to level the series.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan’s openers gave a steady start, with young left-hander Saim Ayub scoring a composed 53 off 68 balls, including five boundaries. Middle-order batter Salman Ali Agha anchored the innings with a solid 69-run knock, helping stabilize the innings after the early dismissals.

All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz provided a late surge, smashing 59 runs off just 59 balls with three sixes and four fours, pushing Pakistan’s total beyond 250 in the final overs. The team added 78 runs in the last 10 overs, ensuring a competitive total on a batting-friendly surface.

For South Africa, Corbin Bosch and Ngabayomzi Peter picked up two wickets each, while the rest of the attack struggled to contain Pakistan’s lower-order aggression. Despite occasional breakthroughs, South Africa’s bowlers failed to build consistent pressure.

The Faisalabad pitch has been favorable for batting, but spinners are expected to play a decisive role in the second innings as conditions slow down under lights.

Pakistan leads the three-match series 1–0 and will secure the series with a win in this game. South Africa, meanwhile, faces a must-win situation to keep the contest alive ahead of the final ODI.
