Govt vows to resolve taxation, energy & financing Issues for textile

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to resolving key challenges related to taxation, energy, and financing to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of Pakistan’s industrial sector.

He made this statement during a meeting held today at the Finance Division with the leadership of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA). The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Secretary of the Commerce Division, and other high-ranking officers from the Finance Division and FBR.

Welcoming the APTMA office-bearers, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and his team expressed the government’s strong resolve to extend all possible support to the textile sector. He assured the delegation that the government acknowledges the textile industry’s vital role in Pakistan’s economy and remains committed to addressing its concerns.

The Finance Minister underscored that resolving the core challenges faced by the industry is essential for fostering a conducive environment for industrial development, promoting economic stability, and advancing the nation’s overall growth trajectory.

Earlier in the meeting, the APTMA delegation, led by Chairman Kamran Arshad, presented a comprehensive overview of the pressing issues confronting the textile sector, particularly in the areas of energy, taxation, and financing. The presentation also included recommendations and proposals aimed at ensuring the sector’s long-term viability and expansion.

In response, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb assured the APTMA leadership that the government would carefully analyze their recommendations and incorporate feasible suggestions into the federal budget. He reiterated the importance of a consultative approach and pledged to address any anomalies in the existing framework.

The APTMA delegation expressed gratitude for the expedited disbursement of tax refunds and requested further support for the clearance of outstanding dues. In turn, the Finance Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining an ongoing dialogue with key sectors, ensuring that their concerns are effectively addressed in the upcoming budget.
